Privacy policy

Casewell is built for private, personal record keeping.

This policy explains how Casewell handles private timeline records, supporting files, exports, purchases, support requests, and optional AI rewriting.

What Casewell is

Casewell helps separated parents organise private records into a clear, dated timeline. It is a personal record-keeping tool, not a messaging or co-parenting platform: it sends nothing on your behalf and does not share records automatically.

Summary

Casewell is designed as a local-first private vault. Your timeline records, imported files, child profile details, expenses, and export history are stored on your device by default. They are not automatically uploaded to Casewell servers and are not shared with another parent, solicitor, lawyer, mediator, court, or professional unless you choose to export or share them.

Some information may be processed off your device when needed for purchases, entitlement checks, optional AI rewriting, customer support, or store/platform operations. The sections below explain those cases.

Information you create in the app

You may create timeline entries, handover notes, communication notes, school or medical notes, expense records, tags, child profile names or initials, optional dates of birth, screenshots, photos, receipts, PDFs, documents, OCR text, attachment notes, AI rewrite results, and export files. Depending on what you choose to enter, this content may include information about you, children, another parent, family members, health, school, finances, legal matters, safeguarding concerns, locations, or other sensitive circumstances.

Casewell cannot control what you choose to record. You are responsible for making sure the content you add was obtained and stored lawfully, and that you have the right to keep or share it.

Local storage and encryption

Casewell stores private record payloads in a local SQLite vault on your device. Sensitive record payloads and imported attachment files are encrypted before storage using keys kept in platform-protected storage. The app also offers an app lock and optional biometric unlock where supported by your device.

Some non-sensitive index fields, such as dates, categories, importance, archive status, and attachment flags, may remain in the local database so the app can sort, filter, and load records efficiently. This is payload-level encryption, not a claim that every local database field is hidden from all device-level forensic access. Device security, operating system protections, backups, screenshots, and any device compromise remain important.

Photos, camera, and files

Casewell asks for photo-library or camera access only when you choose to import a screenshot, receipt, photo, or other supporting image. The selected image or file is copied into Casewell's app-controlled attachment storage and encrypted. Casewell does not scan your photo library in the background.

Payments

Casewell uses RevenueCat and the App Store or Google Play to process subscriptions, purchase restoration, and subscription status. Casewell does not receive your full card number or payment credentials. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat may process purchase identifiers, product identifiers, transaction information, subscription status, renewal or expiry dates, storefront information, and related device or account identifiers according to their own policies.

The app stores a local entitlement cache so it can show whether Premium features or AI allowance are available. Casewell may also store minimal server-side entitlement records when backend features require them.

AI rewriting

AI rewriting is optional and only runs when you choose to request it. When you do, the note text you submit is sent to Casewell's backend proxy so it can be processed by an AI provider using a server-side key. The app shows a privacy reminder before AI text upload unless you turn that reminder off.

Casewell's backend applies authentication, entitlement checks, usage limits, and rate limits before processing. The AI audit path is designed not to log note text, prompts, child names, attachment names, OCR text, or AI output. AI providers may process submitted text to return the rewrite. Do not submit information to AI if you are not comfortable with it leaving your device for that request.

AI rewrites are only a drafting aid. Review them carefully before saving or sharing. Casewell does not provide legal advice, and AI should not add facts that were not provided.

Backend identity and entitlement checks

Some backend features use a Supabase-authenticated app identity so Casewell can apply purchase entitlements, AI usage allowance, rate limits, and audit controls. These backend records may include a Supabase user identifier, RevenueCat customer identifier, entitlement status, product identifiers, usage counters, timestamps, and non-content audit events such as whether an AI request was allowed or blocked. They are not intended to contain your private record text or attachment files.

Exports and sharing

Casewell can generate PDFs and export bundles from records you select. Export files are created because you request them. Once you share an export outside Casewell, the recipient, destination app, email service, cloud drive, solicitor, lawyer, mediator, adviser, court, or other third party may process that export under their own rules. Review every export carefully before sending it.

Support requests

If you contact Casewell support, we may receive your email address, name, message content, device type, app version, purchase status information you choose to share, and any files or screenshots you voluntarily send. Do not send private record text, child names, screenshots, receipts, PDFs, or exports unless support specifically asks for them and you choose to share them.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Casewell does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell your personal data. The app includes a privacy-preserving analytics setting, but analytics should only be enabled if a documented analytics provider and consent flow are configured. If future analytics or diagnostics providers are added, this policy and the App Store / Google Play privacy disclosures must be updated before launch of that change.

Third parties

Casewell may rely on providers such as Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Supabase, AI providers, website hosting, and email/support providers depending on the feature you use. Third parties must handle data according to their own terms and privacy policies. Casewell aims to share only what is needed for the feature you request.

Retention and deletion

Local records stay on your device until you delete them, purge them, delete all local data from Settings, uninstall the app, or your operating system removes app data. Deleting local data removes local records, attachments, exports, passcode data, and local app state from that device, but it does not delete records you already exported, files you shared outside Casewell, App Store / Google Play purchase history, RevenueCat transaction records, support emails, or backend records that Casewell must retain for security, purchase, accounting, abuse prevention, or legal reasons.

You can request help deleting server-side app identity and entitlement data by contacting support. Some records may need to be retained where required for legal, tax, payment, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Your choices

You choose what records and files to add. You choose when to import photos, take photos, export, share, or request AI rewriting. You can turn AI privacy reminders on or off in Settings, restore or manage purchases through the store or RevenueCat Customer Center where available, delete local data from Settings, and contact support for privacy questions or deletion help.

Children and sensitive family information

Casewell is intended for adults keeping their own private records. It is not directed to children. Because users may choose to record information about children or family matters, treat the app as sensitive. Do not add or share information unless you have a lawful basis and it is appropriate in your circumstances.

International processing

Casewell and its providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where applicable, Casewell relies on appropriate contractual, technical, and organisational measures with service providers.

Security limits

Casewell uses reasonable technical and organisational measures for a small, local-first sensitive-record app, including local payload encryption, encrypted attachment storage, platform-protected key storage, app lock, entitlement checks, and redaction-oriented backend logging. No app can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device, operating system, backups, lock screen, and cloud accounts secure.

Legal and professional review

Casewell helps you organise private records. It does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee that any record or export will be accepted by a court, solicitor, lawyer, mediator, adviser, therapist, or other professional. Review all content carefully before sharing.

Changes to this policy

Casewell may update this policy when the app, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated date above will show when the policy was last revised.
